The last two weeks my daughter had her spring break so one day I checked out this new play space called Tumble Bee in Emerson. It was about half an hour from me, so not the closest place, but I was drawn by the convenient time and price.
We went on a Thursday from 12:30 to 2pm. For children ages 2 to 7yrs it’s only $10 each child for a one and a half hour play time. Very reasonable! (note: they only take check, cash or Visa). I’m also happy that I still have a year before I have to pay for my one year old.
There was no shortage of fun things for my kids to do here. In the middle is a large wooden castle that kids can climb into and slide out of on a slide. There is also an enclosed ball pit area. There is a bouncer area and a trampoline area too so you have plenty of “bouncing” type activity (who needs Bounce U?).
My daughter’s favorite activity, though, was the zipline. Basically, your child hangs onto a small bar as she travels down a wire and lets go into a soft circular pit. It’s fun, but a bit dangerous for if they don’t let go in time they will smack into the padded metal post.
There are also gymnastics equipment like balance beams and uneven parallel bars. It was while on the parallel bars that my daughter hit her head. I’m sure these things happen all the time, but be sure to watch your kids at all times. She was fine, but it made me a little nervous afterwards. One member of the staff was helping the kids come down the slide at the castle but other than that you need to watch them.
The only other small complaint was that it was a bit cramped with all the different equipment in there. It would be nice if things were a little more spread out.
They also offer classes with a spring session of 8 classes that started last week for $155. I like that they have a combination toddler class for 1 to 3 year olds (so that siblings can take classes together).
They have parties for $250 for 10 children and $13 for each additional child (this does not include food, which is extra). There is a maximum of 25 children.
For the rest of the month, here are the open play times:
