|I’ve been looking forward to checking out Sensory Towne for quite some time and finally had the opportunity. I knew a little about their mission to provide an inclusive environment for children to learn and develop together, but I did not know that I shared a personal and special connection with the owner, Kimberly Belzer.
Sensory Towne is a kids gym that provides an array of sensory-based activities. It was inspired by Belzer’s now 17-year-old son, who has multiple special needs. He has undergone more than a dozen surgeries and is a cancer survivor! (I took care of them at Wolfson Children’s Hospital years and years ago!) As a mother, Kimberly discovered that her son thrived better with the right combination of sensory input and knew other
parents needed a safe place for their children to feel included and play. After a lot of research and hard work, Sensory Towne was born!
Sensory Towne provides a variety of highly engaging activities including a foam pit, rock wall, rolling slide, calm room…the list goes on! They offer daily classes, after school programs, and venues for birthday parties. They offer open play as well as monthly memberships. Not only do you get unlimited monthly play with membership, but you get discounts on birthday parties, parent’s night out, and more! Open play is offered in two-hour increments or all day. ($14/$20 respectively.) Each additional sibling is $10/$15.
Membership fees start at $50/month.
I took the boys on a weekday when it opened at 10 AM. PRO TIP: You need to make your reservation and sign a waiver online. Super easy! Adults need to wear socks and masks. Children are asked to be barefoot or in grip socks. Kimberly greeted us at the door, where temperature is taken and hand sanitizer is provided, and away we went!
My boys played hard for the entire time and did not want to leave at noon. They couldn’t get enough of the foam pit, climbing wall, and huge green blocks! We decided to take the kids yoga class, which is offered on Mondays at 10:30 AM. It was great! My son was hesitant to give it a shot but he really enjoyed it! Classes are included in admission fee.
I found everything very clean and not crowded, (6 other kids). I loved that Kimberly walked around the gym, cleaning and chatting with all the parents. She was delightful!
Our family had a great time at Sensory Towne! Beyond all the fun, we truly enjoyed learning about their mission and the impressive journey Kimberly took to bring her dream to reality!
