For some reason we could not find an official name of this park. But, it’s across from Faber field and in the same parking lot as the municipal pool. So if you’re using a GPS put in 390 Doremus Ave. If you’re coming from the center of Glen Rock, pass through the shops and make a right at the big rock onto Doremus. The park will be on your left.
Park on Doremus Ave. (390 Doremus Ave., Glen Rock, NJ): This park is great for big kids. The “big kid area” is large and as you can see from the pictures there are many elevated platforms and tall slides. One of the best features of this park is that it’s completely gated with a cement path that runs around the entire playground area. There are plenty of benches close-by and by mid-day the park is shaded. As you’ll see in the pictures below there is a toddler play area but if you read the our experience section you’ll see you might want to keep a close eye on your toddler here because our 2 year olds could not play independently. Not pictured are a few swings and two-person motorcycles (or they might have been cars…not sure 🙂
Our experience: We arrived at 3:30 and the park was completely shaded. But it was after school so there were quite a few big kids running about. I have to admit, I was a bit freaked out by the number of kids running around but Andrea said I’ve been out here in the suburbs too long and loved the park. I also felt that the toddler part wasn’t as toddler friendly as I would have liked (my son did a face plant off the slide, see scary slide picture below). Andrea liked the toddler area, didn’t mind helping her daughter through the playground and was making friends with every mother there while I was having a heart attack trying to frantically talk my son out of jumping off the rock climbing wall.
