With the holidays here, I was looking to get my husband something a little extra special to freshen up his work wardrobe. Since his job is in the financial services industry, dress shirts and tailored suits are his closet staples, and he’s into looking sharp and stylish. So when I had the opportunity to check out one of the hottest new men’s clothiers, J.Hilburn, I knew I had hit on the perfect present for the hubs.
For those not familiar with J. Hilburn, here’s the backstory: launched in Dallas in June, 2007, the company built its business on their signature item — the custom shirt (they tout being the largest global custom shirt provider.) And what makes J. Hilburn unique is that the brand is offered only through the network of their Style Advisors, who bring J. Hilburn directly to their clients in the comfort of their home or office, and on their client’s schedule.
The best part? Their extensive line of luxurious, customized products are made from the highest quality fabrics (like LORA PIANA wool and Egyptian cotton) offered by other luxury clothiers, only at a significant savings.
My husband, Mike, and I met with J. Hilburn Style Advisor and local mom, Andrea White, (firstname.lastname@example.org, 201-797-0308) at our Bergen County home on a recent weeknight to check out the collection and talk about custom-fit dress shirts. Andrea presented Mike with a book of over 250 Italian fabrics and 50 style options to choose from, ranging in price from $89 – $169. What was great about this experience was the personalized attention, the ability to feel the fabrics firsthand and of course, the made-to-measure aspect of the shirt fitting.
With tape measure in hand, Andrea took several measurements, guided Mike through the fabrics and trends in menswear, punching his order into her iPad from the comfort of our living room. He ultimately selected a white herringbone solid dress shirt that retails for $109, made of the most delectable Egyptian cotton.
In addition to custom dress shirts, the J. Hilburn collection is comprised of made-to-measure trousers ($125-$225), sport coats ($395-$625), vests ($160) and TUXEDOS ($850), as well as Italian silk accessories and cufflinks ($39-$89).
