Recently, Lauren and I joined a group of other “Mom-Fluencers” in the area for a tour of the Maternity Center at the newly reopened HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley in Westwood. To keep up with their news, follow them on Facebook or Twitter.

We loved: beautiful center garden,  free parking for visitors, free classes and support groups at their Mommy University, amazing private bathrooms, 24 hour room service, concierge services, and their over-all warm, clean and intimate feeling.

The tour began in the serene garden that sits in the center of the maternity unit. I was immediately impressed by this unusual space, especially since I remember feeling a bit trapped in my hospital room after delivery. This will surely be a welcome space for new parents to bring visitors or even sneak away to for a few peaceful moments alone.

  • 18 post partum beds

There is also an indoor welcome room for family members complete with a microwave and refrigerator.

All rooms are private with en suite bathrooms. Plus, there is no extra charge for use of televisions, Wi-Fi, phones or parking. The hospital is an exceptionally breastfeeding-friendly facility and boasts a dedicated lactation room, readily available pumping supplies and lactation consultants on hand to offer support to all new moms. There is also 24-hour room service and patient concierge services to ensure all moms are well taken care of after delivery both in the room (think mani-pedi, at home dog walking or even dry cleaning).

The unit has private rooms with extra pull-out beds. The bathrooms are beautiful and most of us said they are nicer than ours at home.
