Wow! What a weekend–there are a ton of events to banish the end of summer blahs. Events I want to check out: Sunday dance party at Skylands festival, Teddy Bear ER and Play week at Bronx Zoo next week.
FRIDAY FOR KIDS
Friday Aug. 14. High School Musical 2 and Grease. 2pm and 7:30pm. Saddle River Valley Cultural Center; 305 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ. I've visited this place and it's wonderful. FAIRS AND FESTIVALS
Friday, Aug. 14-16. Skylands Music & Arts Festival. 11am-10:30pm Fri/Sat; 11am-4pm. Sun. (near Del. Water Gap). Hunter's Lodge Field; Rt. 46 East, Delaware, NJ. A diverse group of folksy performers. Sunday is their Dance Party with African Dance, Tango, and "mosh pit polka." More info.
Saturday, Aug. 15. Bergen 4-H Fair. 10am-4pm. Van Saun Park; Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ. . 4-H exhibits, contents, activities, arts and crafts, "Grandma's Cookie Contest," and live performances. Schedule here. Free!
Saturday, Aug. 15. Rocknoceros at Kidrock Festival. 12-4pm. Discovery Museum; 2040 Springdale Rd. Cherry Hill, NJ. Woodstock for kids! $9.95 for 12 months and older.
OFF THE BEATEN PATH
Sat. Aug 15-16th. History Under the Stars. John Jay Homestead State Historic Site. 6pm to 10am. This is a step up from camping out in your backyard. Great for a father/son trip. Crafts, campfire and house tour. $35 adults/kids under 12yrs $25. Advanced registration required. 914-232-5651
Sunday, Aug. 16. Maywood Railroad Day. 12-3pm. Maywood Station Museum.
Sunday, August 16. Teddy Bear ER. 1pm. Englewood Hospital. Kids bring their teddy bears to be "examined." Fun intro to the hospital experience for kids. This is a great idea! Free Kidcare Photo ID kit is included. Preregistration required! Free. visit: www.englewoodhospital.com.

August 17-21. 14th Annual Elisabeth Morrow Summer String Festival. 9am. 435 Lydecker St., Englewood, NJ. 200 students from all over the world converge to this week of intensive training. Fri 2pm is the gala with performance of Pachabel's Canon D. www.elisabethmorrow.org
