Welcome to Playgroundtalk Jax!
Your kid-friendly guide to Jacksonville’s best local gems.
I’m your host, Jodi!
A little about me… I am a pediatric dietitian and have spent my career in two wonderful children’s hospitals; Wolfson Children’s Hospital and St Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, an hour south of where I grew up.
I’m not your typical “Pinterest mom”. I’m not super creative and I’m no expert at imaginative play! (Honestly, how many hours can my 3-year-old play with these dinosaurs?)
But when it comes to snuggles, dance parties, and outdoor exploration, that’s where this momma shines!
When our youngest was born, we made the decision that I would stay home. It gave me an incredible opportunity to spend endless time with my boys, but how could I best take advantage of the time we had together? I started researching and I quickly learned that the best advice wasn’t coming from any book or article, it was coming from other parents! The hints and tricks I learned from other moms was a blessing, (especially in my early years of mom-hood), and I knew I had to find a way to pay it forward.
Playgroundtalk Jax is my way to do that!
This is where I share the best places to go, classes to experiences, and special local events with fellow Jacksonville parents! My hope is to take the guesswork out of the planning process so you can focus on what matters most – spending quality time with your kiddos!
School is out and although the calendar may disagree, it’s officially summer in our house! For us, that means lots of outdoor time, water fun, ice cream, later bedtimes, more adventures, and so.many.memories! We were invited by friends to a park in Palm Coast. Yes,...
Last year when my oldest was 3, we decided to try soccer. We made it 2 practices and then cue our exit. We tried a different league with a February start date, and my son told me he wanted to go home. There are other details of the experience I will spare you, but...
Strawberries are a favorite in our house and there is absolutely nothing better than fresh-picked fruit. Red, juicy, nutrient-filled, and so versatile! We decided to treat the boys and take them to pick their own for their very first time. “U-pick” season usually...
As we roll into March and the air begins to smell like spring, my boys and I have had the urge to head to a park! We decided to explore two; one local to the Jax Beach area and another that was more of a destination. Jack Russell Park, one of Atlantic Beach’s prized...
Cold temperatures have finally arrived in NE Florida! Before kids, this kind of weather would mean sweatpants, lifetime movies, and a comfy blanket on the couch, (drink in hand). For some reason, my two boys don't seem to share my vision for a perfect cozy day. We set...
Another holiday season has come and gone, and many memories were made! But after the excitement of Christmas subsided my boys were ready to get active again, so we made our way to The Greenhouse Playhouse! The Greenhouse...
