Winter’s Park – Mahwah, NJ

Winter’s Park (East Ramapo Ave., Mahwah): This park has a lot to offer. It has a pond, bridges, picnic tables, a large play area with a great climbing section and history.  You could spend hours here with your kids.  Plus, the toddler play area and big kid play area are close enough so it’s possible to supervise multiple children. Strangely, I could not find an exact address for the park but it’s right off  Route 17. Here are the directions from the town’s website. From the South—Route 17 {Read More}

Veteran’s Memorial Park – Orangeburg, NY

Veteran's Park 1

Try not to be scared off by the fact that this park is in NY.  It’s super close to many of our towns in Bergen and is big enough for large groups to meet but doesn’t seem to get overcrowded.Veteran’s Memorial Park (81 Hunt Rd., Orangeburg, NY): This park is very big with a variety of play areas for children of all ages.  The play areas are not shaded and can get quite hot in the am but there is plenty of shade, benches and {Read More}

Hess Park – Upper Saddle River (Hidden Park)

Hess Park 3

This park was mentioned to me on a playdate so it took me forever to reconnect with the person who mentioned it and get the address.  It’s at the end of a residential street and even with two ball field it’s surprisingly quiet. It’s great for a picnic lunch and an hour or so of letting your little ones run around. Hess Park (Hess Ct., Upper Saddle River):  You’ll see a small driveway at the end of Hess Ct.  (picture {Read More}

Hello all! I’ve missed blogging so much and I’m so excited to start up again. If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been…it’s time to make the big announcement that we’re expecting our second child.  So, we’ve been busy!  No really, I wound up being blessed with morning, afternoon, evening and middle of the night sickness.  But the good news is we’re now about 20 weeks and feeling well…pregnant with a toddler running around our home but well…and excited to welcome {Read More}

Indoor Environmental Center – Wyckoff, NJ

There are two big tanks like this when you enter the lobby. The other tank held a huge turtle.

We woke up on Friday to a cold rainy day with nothing to do.  Andrea reminded me that the James A. McFaul Environmental Center (we call it the Wyckoff wildlife center) has a small indoor museum perfect for a short visit.  So, off we went to check it out. James A. McFaul Environmental Center (150 Crescent Ave., Wyckoff, NJ): The environmental center has 81 acres consisting of winding paths, woodland gardens, animal shelters, pond, a two-story observation platform, a covered picnic pavilion {Read More}

Veterans Park (Hidden Parks) – Waldwick, NJ

Entrance From Schuler Ave. - No parking lot

I had lots of inside kid friendly posts to start in November but with this beautiful weather I was inspired to get out there to another park.  If you’re all parked-out don’t worry, Thursday will be on Garden State…’tis the season right? Anyway, you all might have heard about Veterans Park in Waldwick but did you know there was a small pond right up the street that you could fish in or just watch the ducks/swans swim by? I found it {Read More}
